International Conference on Space 2025: Harnessing Space for Global Progress: Innovation, Policy, and Growth

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) this year, is organising the Two- day International Conference on Space from 8th – 9th September 2025, with support of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) and NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), Bengaluru, India.

The two-day conference will highlight the pivotal roles of ISRO, INSPACe and NSIL in advancing India’s space capabilities, with a focus on satellite manufacturing, space missions execution, space exploration, and industry participation, thereby strengthening the Indian space sector.

The conference will engage in deliberations on the key focus areas outlined by IN-SPACe under the Decadal Vision for the Indian Space Economy. It will serve as a platform to deliberate on Indian industry participation in the space sector, with an emphasis on strengthening indigenous capabilities, fostering innovation, and developing a highly skilled workforce. Additionally, the conference will address the expanding demand for space-based technologies across various sectors, support the growth of the startup ecosystem, and encourage international collaborations.

Emphasis will be placed on driving demand for upstream and downstream space applications in the defence sector, aligning with global trends that link defence investment to commercial space growth.

This year, Denmark is the Guest Country for this conference.

Harnessing Space for Global Progress: Innovation, Policy, and Growth

From the landmark Chandrayaan-3 mission to strategic international collaborations, India’s space journey is reshaping its scientific, economic, and diplomatic landscape. The space sector, currently valued at USD 8.4 billion, holds a modest 2-3% share of the global space economy. However, projections suggest that by 2033, India’s space industry could expand to USD 44 billion, with exports contributing USD 11 billion—further positioning India as a key player in the global arena.

This remarkable growth is fuelled by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and an expanding private sector, which has seen the emergence of nearly 200 startups in recent years. These startups are driving innovation, offering space-based products and services that are more affordable, accessible, and tailored to the evolving market demands. The successful launches, developed by private Indian firms, highlight the sector’s vast potential in satellite manufacturing, launch vehicles, and downstream applications.
