World Cancer Day 2026, observed on 4 February, reaffirms the global commitment to prevention, early detection, equitable treatment, and dignity for every person affected by cancer. It calls on governments, health systems, communities, and individuals to act together—turning awareness into access, science into survival, and compassion into hope for a cancer-free future.

The World Cancer Day theme “United by Unique” highlights that every cancer journey is personal, yet the fight against cancer is collective—calling on the world to unite with empathy, inclusion, and people-centred care for every life touched by cancer.

Dr. Surendra Nath Mohapatra devoted his life to the selfless service of saving cancer patients, blending clinical excellence with unwavering compassion. For countless families, he was not just a doctor but a source of hope, dignity, and strength—his legacy living on in every life he touched and every battle he helped win against cancer. He selflessly served the Prabasi Odia community in Mumbai, Maharashtra, working voluntarily to provide care, guidance, and hope to those far from home, and earning deep respect for his compassion, humility, and lifelong commitment to humanity.
